As digital payments grow rapidly, UPI guidelines are being updated to improve system efficiency and user security. Here’s a summary of the key changes introduced from August 1, 2025:
Users can now check their account balance only 50 times per day per UPI app. If multiple apps are used, the limit applies individually to each. This change aims to reduce unnecessary system load.
For pending transactions, users can check the status only three times, with at least 90 seconds between each attempt. This helps manage traffic during peak hours and prevents overload.
AutoPay transactions will now be processed only within these time windows:
* Before 10 AM
* Between 1 PM – 5 PM
* After 9:30 PM
This scheduled processing is designed to streamline backend operations.
Users can view their linked bank account only 25 times a day. This step reduces data strain on banking systems and encourages mindful app usage.
Users can raise up to 10 reversal requests per month, with a maximum of 5 per sender. This helps prevent misuse and reduces fraudulent reversal attempts.
Before completing a transaction, users will now see the recipient’s registered bank name, improving accuracy and reducing the risk of fraud.
Many of these new limitations don’t apply if you use Digi Khata. That’s because Digi Khata’s UPI wallet doesn’t require linking to a bank account.
- You can check your wallet balance anytime, without worrying about a 50-check limit.
- There’s no need to view linked bank accounts, so the 25-view cap doesn’t apply either.
Skip the limitations. Choose smarter digital payments.
